A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in their address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after they have gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about their problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps themself. <-- (HAHAHA i'm always like that its pretty bad)

A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you.

i just don't know what to do...

blah blah blah = relationships

anyhow, besides that...

Warped Tour 2004!

So first, I would like to say thanks to Alvin for hooking us up (well kinda) with the tickets and then Wanger + Nick for not only picking me up when I was late, but walking back to the car after I found out you couldn't take in digi cams or backpacks.

Bands: Yellowcard, FLOGGING MOLLY!!!!, NOFX, New Found Glory, The Sounds, Story of the Year, The Rolling Blackouts, The Berets (they sucked)

Bands (we kinda saw - like were sitting down): Guttermouth, The Casualties, Alkaline Trio, Coheed & Cambria, The Vandals, Bad Religion (we left early - i'm sad because wanted to hear the LEGENDS..but they were my ride, so oh well)

Bands (I wish I saw): Thursday, Go Betty Go, Ima Robot, and Mae

Bought: $9 worth of food, $5 Warped 2004 cd, $5 Punk o' rama 9 cd, $15 Flogging Molly Shirt

Got (for free): STICKERS, and other band shit, and signatures of three of the members of Flogging Molly

Annoying: Walking all the way to the entrance and finding out I couldn't bring in my backpack (I REALLY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A PURSE!) and scary mosh pit people...

I had an awesome time, got burnt, got free shit, and inhaled tons of cigarette/cigar smoke and smoke from illegal activities.

Decided that being a little asian girl at concerts sucks - I still look way too asian to be at these concerts..but still loved it!

Um, it was totally worth the $37 - the bands were amazing, I think the best ones that we saw were Yellowcard, Flogging Molly (obviously), Story of the Year. The Vandals, and The Rolling Blackouts. The really random thing that happened was that Bad Religion was on the main stage next to Story of the Year and they were suppose to start after Story of the Year finished. However, they started like before Story of the Year could start their last song, and so Story of the Year and Bad Religion were playing at the same time. Personally, I think Story of the Year should have stopped playing and deferred to Bad Religion, but whatever. Yeah and the Rolling Blackouts are this band that played on the little Hurley stage - very good band I would have to say.

Lots of Troy people there too..and very little asian people - and all of the asian people that were there were like white-washed. It was quite an interesting crowd of your general abercrombie girls, punk rock kids, emo kids, and general rock kids. Just interesting.

And also there was the Code of the Cutz stage where we saw some random rappers - some of them were actually pretty funny..

It wasn't too hot in the morning, but it did warm up later which gave me a major headache, but by the time we left you wanted to put on a jacket.

Also its funny because the stages (themselves) have kinda a VIP section - well basically its just on stage behind the band. Its really random to see like old people and other people just standing around behind the band. When I mean VIP - its like you know how at normal concerts like there are seats and VIP get all the good seats, well that's what I mean.

We also didn't have to pay for parking (YES!) and just parked at Troy and moseyed on over...lastly, I feel sorry for the CSUF grass on the soccer fields - it got MANGLED!

here's my random post.

So first things first, if you love your mother, then wish her "Happy Mother's Day" and if you don't, but are worried that she is going to take away your college money, wish her the same, and make sure you got her a really good gift. That is all I have to say. My bear says hello.

Can I just say how funny this is (stolen from fever_dream):

why aren't you a terrorist?

if you smoke weed you're a terrorist [madrid bombers sold drugs].

if you're 15 and making political art, you're a terrorist [secret service questions boy].

if you're a teacher, you're a terrorist [teacher's union is terrorist threat].

if you're pro-choice, you're a terrorist [the notorious karen hughes]

looks like, if you're not flag-waving you're bomb-making. now get to it!

And now, an amazing commentary on how everybody cheats:

Another interesting article...

Making and breaking corporate reputations on the Internet
By JUDY OLIAN
04.30.2004

Every day, thousands of messages about innumerable companies are posted on the Internet, each with the potential to make or break corporate reputations. Some come from the actual companies as press releases or flattering news items planted by employees masquerading as Joe Smith. Other messages are from consumers offering honest reviews of products or services, community activists, disgruntled employees and consumers _ or people who simply enjoy perverting the news.

Before the Internet, wacky people spreading false rumors were easily dismissed. Without access to mass communication channels, their allegations had limited reach and they had to exert substantial effort to be seen or heard. On the Internet, however, anyone can be anonymous, and there are few means to separate credible or responsible commentators from malicious sources with an axe to grind.

With the Internet approaching one billion users, reputations can be destroyed with the speed and ferocity of a devastating hurricane. In one example, calls to boycott retailing giant Target were repeated across the country because the store had refused to support a fundraising drive for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Target was represented as a French company unfriendly to Americans. But there was one problem. The allegations were false. They were started by a chain e-mail with consequences serious enough to prompt Target to launch a concerted counter e-mail and media campaign to correct the record. And, by the way, Target is a U.S. corporation.

Web sites offer consumer, community or shareholder groups significant power in shaping corporate reputations.

_ Savedisney.com is Roy Disney's creation to organize support for his drive to dump Michael Eisner as head of Disney.

_ McSpotlight.org is a Web destination for those critical of the McDonald's Corporation.

_ At MSboycott.com, visitors can access more than 160 Web sites disparaging Microsoft.

_ Untied.com is a channel to gripe about United Airlines.

There are 7,800 sucks.com websites specific to companies across the globe that invite complaints from any aggrieved Internet subscriber, anywhere. And if trends in Europe are an indication, text messaging on cell phones will be the next sponsored advertising and communications medium, adding to the channels through which news and rumors are transmitted instantly.

Companies have little legal recourse when irresponsible and unfounded cyber campaigns damage their reputation. The case for libel is hard to establish. Often, the cyber culprits can't be located because they hide behind pseudo-identities on the Internet. In addition, any attempts to limit Internet expression _ accurate or inaccurate _ are aggressively contested by a variety of Internet user groups as a threat to the First Amendment.

So what can a company do to protect its reputation? In his new book, "The 18 Immutable Laws of Corporate Reputation," Wall Street Journal reporter Ron Alsop describes how corporate reputations are built and where they are most vulnerable. He notes the significant power of the Internet to create and destroy reputations.

Alsop writes about the Gillette Company, which contracts outsiders to monitor 8 million Web pages daily to find uses and misuses of any Gillette products, trademarks or mention of the company that may be harmful. If any references pose risks to Gillette's reputation, company lawyers step in to protect the brand.

Daily mining of the Internet to monitor news about a company has become big business. Cyber-monitoring firms such as Brand Intelligence, eWatch, CyberAlert, Cyveillance and NetDetect are contracted by companies to monitor Internet chat rooms and Web sites and pick up looming reputational threats or infringements on corporate intellectual property.

The Internet can also reinforce corporate reputations. Target's Web site includes a point-by-point rebuttal of its alleged refusal to sponsor the Vietnam Memorial. Coke has a permanent "Myths and Rumors" button on its Web site to address the inevitable rumors.

Alsop writes that in response to damaging publicity regarding sweatshop manufacturing, Nike offers a virtual Web tour of a Vietnamese factory that makes Nike products. The user can observe the manufacturing plant and, at the same time, hear Nike's side of the story.

Companies can exploit the benefits of viral marketing on the Internet. An online "mockumentary" developed by Volvo and shown in Europe earned cult following and created buzz. Advertising Age reported increased visits to Volvo's website and dealers in several European countries each time the piece ran.

Unfortunately, research indicates that consumers' attention to, and recall of, negative information outweighs their awareness of positive news. With regard to the Internet, that means that the impact of a cybersmear will be much more significant and lasting than a parallel positive message. And with the scale, speed and reach of the Internet, that's a scary thought.

No wonder corporate public relations departments have turned their attention to sleuthing the Internet. A misstep could be very costly.

(Judy Olian is dean of Penn State University's Smeal College of Business and a leading expert on strategic human resources management.)
